OUR VISION
The broad aim of INKS is to provide a network for teaching, researching and implementing both ancient and innovative earth friendly technologies for sustainable development in communities all over Africa.
INKS is an initiative to share knowledge and to create channels of communication between diverse cultures and individuals; therefore, we place an emphasis on learning from indigenous people and adding their expertise and ancient knowledge to the database of knowledge systems where appropriate.
The main issues INKS aims to address are: food security, water, energy, housing, healthcare (plant and nutrition based), waste management, conservation of habitat and cultural heritage.
The methods currently envisioned include permaculture, green agriculture and forestry, natural building, renewable energy, medicinal trees and plants, eco and ethno-tourism.
Economic empowerment is fostered by:
1) sharing techniques and technologies with members of the community that they can set up and maintain to create economic self sufficiency
2) establishing profit sharing schemes and initiatives that involve, train and empower the local community
We take a holistic view to ‘development’ and instead of creating models of dependency and charity; we envision two way exchanges in which all parties are enriched by the contact and are working together to meet a common vision of a better world.
We view ourselves as a network of diverse people, cultures and nationalities all contributing our unique skills to realize a common vision of abundance, freedom and peace on a thriving Earth.
